For my boundaries piece I was inspired by personal boundaries. Though I thought of it as physical and personal boundaries instead of emotional or social. When you touch someone, there is always a barrier of atoms between you and them. So, even though it feel like you’re touching, you never really are. My piece was two hands clenched together, showing an emphasis on the clenching of the knuckles. I’m trying to convey that no matter how tight you’re holding on to someone you’re never actually touching. I think that this conveys a boundary that no one really thinks about day to day, and it interests me alot. I did the piece in colored pencil (prismacolor), which I have never used for an actual piece before. So, I was breaking one of my own boundaries by taking a risk. I really wanted to use color in this piece because of the contrasting colors in her fingers. There was representation of almost every color and I thought that black and white wouldn’t really convey the same liveliness that color would for this piece. I think that medium is extremely important in the perception of artwork; medium can change the tone and message of the piece. I like the tone that I set for this piece, I feels softer and more subtle than if I were to use paint or markers. I am overall pleased with the piece and hope to use it in my college portfolio possibly. This piece is also not completely finished
